The KMS motor that I have installed was a bit to long, so I had to shorten the motor housing by about 15cm.

KMS 2820/06motor, APC-E 12x6 Prop, 2200ma 3S1P, 47Amp - 480 Watt @10.75v 1/2 throttle is plenty for normal flight.

I have changed the AAA 800ma pack to a Hobby Wing 8amp UBEC from a 1000ma Lipo, as I found the AAA NiMh pack could not supply the current for the servos and would drop the voltage off too much. The weight difference is negligable. The ESC is a Top Gun 45Amp OPTO. This set up runs just fine.

I have been flying the Extra for 3 seasons now and I find the KMS is more than adequate power!! It’s a great model.

The inevitable has happened, the U/C has parted the fuz. But now fixed. Looking at the parts. I think there was a lack of glue around the mounting plate, suggest that some cyno is run around the joints .

I really enjoy this model and as a 1st electric the learning curve has been useful. I am now looking at getting the Sukhoi from the same stable.
